# Backup and recovery

Backup and recovery is a Kubernetes subsystem rather than a standalone product
view. Kasten provides policy orchestration, but successful protection also
depends on workload metadata, the CSI snapshot API and drivers, persistent
storage, export targets, secrets, and verified restore procedures.

## Veeam Kasten K10

The production architecture view describes the Kasten K10 9.0.7 deployment:
its access, control, execution, data, and observability planes; the protected
application namespaces; and the backup and export paths.

The diagram presents the intended production backup architecture and its
dependencies. It is an architectural overview rather than a live-cluster
status view.

AWX is integrated with the backup subsystem through its managed namespace and
CloudNativePG metadata. Protection is not considered complete until the AWX
database and projects volume are both present in a successful, verified policy
run. The [Storage architecture](layers.md) documents the snapshot API
and CSI dependencies used by that path.

## Console routing

A request to `https://kasten.ess.eu/` receives a permanent redirect to `/k10`,
while existing `/k10` paths continue through Traefik to the Kasten gateway.
